Post AGM follow-up and Merry Christmas to all!

Dear GLRA Residents,

We hope you are all looking forward to an enjoyable and restful Christmas with your family and friends.

It is several weeks since we held our AGM and we were delighted to welcome many new and long standing members to the GLRA.  We will do our best to keep you informed of the Big Changes to our community, over the next few years.

The South Wokingham Distributor Road (SWDR) was the main topic of discussion with Chris Easton and his team. We have posted the draft minutes of the nights proceedings, including all the questions and responses, so please visit Annual Residents meeting - Minutes of the Meeting </span> — Great Langborough Residents Association for more information.

Construction on the SWDR is set to begin in the coming months, the project promises to improve traffic flow around town. We are actively working with Chris Easton’s team to gain a better understanding of the impact on our community during the construction period.  More information, on the plans can be found at GLRA Update on the South Wokingham Distributor Road (SWDR) Infrastructure Project </span> — Great Langborough Residents Association

It was clear many of you expressed concerns about how the construction will impact on daily travel from road closures to detours...we're listening, and we’re committed to keeping you informed about how footpaths, cycleways, and road traffic will be affected.

Since our meeting the WBC have published their Local Plan Update Local Plan Update - have your say! — Great Langborough Residents Association which proposes the expansion of Wokingham particularly along the SWDR. This means there are significant changes on the horizon over the next few years.  The South Wokingham Strategic Development Location identifies the construction of almost 3000 houses are due to be built including the infrastructure needed to support our growing community.

We are working closely with Connor Corrigan, Head of Strategic Development Planning and Delivery to ascertain the likely impact on our community. As plans for additional housing and facilities take shape, we’ll continue to act as a conduit between residents and the Council, pushing for transparency and clear communication.

We aim to hold, GLRA Residents Open Meeting early next year to enable you to meet with us to discuss the plans and progress on both of these exciting projects

We are keen to work with our community on these important issues so please feel free to contact us at glrachair@gmail.com with any further ideas and thoughts.  We also welcome more volunteers to the committee which will help us go from strength to strength in representing residents in a relevant way.

All the best,

The GLRA team
